WELCOME TO HOOK NORTON FILM SOCIETY                      

NEXT SCREENING ON FEBRUARY 6TH.  Supper at 7pm, viewing approx. 8pm.

Our next movie is "Caramel".  Set in Beirut, a city more readily associated in the West with a bloody and long-running civil war, the film could not be more different.  A hair salon provides the lively background for a group of women to demonstrate the human side of their country.

AN OVERVIEW ...

... Each year we screen thirteen films between September and May and our aim each season is to show excellent films from a range of directors in different genres.  The choice of movies has ranged in recent years from Cannes prize-winners to classics, and covers many aspects of independent and world cinema, including foreign-language films (always shown with English subtitles).  We also show a silent movie each season, complete with original live piano accompaniment. 

The 2009/2010 programme is now available and all members should have received their copy, together with the membership form.  Copies can also be found in the library, village shop and post office. 

Location

Films are shown in Hook Norton Memorial Hall, Chapel Street.  Doors open at 6.45pm for refreshments.  The film starts at approximately 8pm.    Comfortable seats, surround sound and good sightlines to a large screen.

Membership

Membership costs £27 per person for the coming season.  This covers 12 films and represents excellent value for money.  The thirteenth film is shown on our Charity Night, when members pay to raise funds for worthwhile village projects.  To join, you can either print out and send the membership form or contact the Treasurer, Mike Rose, 01608 737237, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Guest members are very welcome at a cost of £5 per person per screening.  Please book in advance and no later than the Thursday before screening by phoning 01608 737411.
